GLOSSARY
Recycling terms.
- PIR
- Post-industrial recyclate: material left over from production that never reached a consumer. This is our focus.
- PCR
- Post-consumer recyclate: material from products that have already been used.
- Regrind
- Plastic ground into flakes or granules, ready to be processed again.
- Resin code
- The number (1–7) in the recycling symbol that shows the type of plastic.
- MFI
- Melt flow index: how easily a plastic flows during processing. Important for injection moulding and extrusion.
- Closed loop
- After use, material goes back into the same or a similar application.
